I’m Derek Vandenberg, and Kent County is home ground. I grew up on the Dutch West Side and started West Michigan Moving Company here in 2015, after years running warehouse and freight logistics through the Furniture City corridor. Grand Rapids is the county seat and our home base, and the whole county — Heritage Hill brick, Kentwood cul-de-sacs, the wooded Rockford hills — runs on our daily truck board.
My crew knows the difference between a tight Heritage Hill stair-carry downtown, a wide-open Kentwood subdivision, and a long gravel drive out in the northern townships. We’ve handled all three in a single week, each on one flat rate locked in writing.
Kent County towns we cover
- Grand Rapids — downtown, Heritage Hill, Eastown, Creston, the West Side; our home base
- Wyoming — dense post-war neighborhoods off Division and US-131
- Kentwood — subdivisions and apartments around the airport and M-6
- Walker, Rockford, Comstock Park, Ada, and Cascade — west-side, north-county, and East Beltline suburbs
One price, both ends. The same West Michigan crew loads your Heritage Hill walk-up and unloads your Kentwood ranch — no broker, no day-labor handoff, and no fuel surcharge anywhere inside Kent County.
Flat-rate pricing across Kent County
| Crew | Rate | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| 2 movers + truck | $149/hr | Blankets, dollies, shrink-wrap, tarps, floor protection |
| 3 movers + truck | $199/hr | All of the above plus a third set of hands for stairs or a piano |
One-hour minimum. The flat rate is locked in writing before we load — no mileage add-on for a run out to Rockford or Ada.
How a Kent County move actually runs
Most weeks it’s a downtown apartment upgrade, a Wyoming family moving into a bigger house, or a Cascade estate that needs a full-pack crew. For the harder jobs, Wyatt Boersma runs the piano and specialty carries, and every move stays on our own W-2 crew from load to unload.
Pick your town for driveway and access notes: Wyoming, Kentwood, Walker, Rockford, Cascade, or the full service-areas map.
